OUTDOOR ELECTRICAL SAFETY - A Shocking Thought...
Since 1978 the National Electric Code has required that all circuits serving bathrooms, garages and outside fixtures and outlets be protected by Ground Fault Interrupt (GFI) circuit breakers. This requirement applies to all new construction and renovations. Circuits that existed before 1978 do not require upgrading by the code unless modified. Briefly, a GFI is simply a more sensitive circuit breaker that will "trip" more quickly, providing more protection for you and your family.
